CO2 cooling technology for industrial snow blasting cleaning

for the cooling solution used. acp systems AG based in Zimmern ob Rottweil (Baden-Württemberg) is a globally active technology leader in the field of advanced clean production. Since 1997, the company has been developing highly automated cleaning solutions, especially for the electronics, medical, and automotive industries. The core of the portfolio is the so-called snow jet process, a dry, residue-free CO 2-cleaning for particularly sensitive components.

For the effective operation of these systems, the CO₂ liquid flow must be sufficiently subcooled. This prevents pre-evaporation in the piping system and ensures that the carbon dioxide only expands at the nozzle. This is exactly where the collaboration with FRYKA comes into play.

High process requirements with limited installation space

The CO 2-snow jet cleaning places high demands on process stability and system integration. The required cooling solutions had to:

  • Be precisely integrated into existing customer systems
  • Meet exact dimensional specifications
  • Adhere to defined ventilation directions
  • Be usable in both series systems and in development and prototype construction
  • Be mobile and mechanically robust

A particular challenge was implementing specific sizes and special designs, as the cooling units needed to be seamlessly integrated into existing system concepts.

Tailor-made OEM cooling technology for CO 2-processes

FRYKA developed various compact OEM units in close coordination with acp systems for cooling CO₂ liquid flows to avoid pre-evaporation. The focus was on:

  • Exact structural adaptation to existing systems
  • Technical coordination of housing construction and cooling technology
  • Robust design in high-quality stainless steel housing
  • Optimization for mobile use

Through close collaboration between housing construction, cooling technology, and the client, both functional and structural requirements were precisely implemented.

»What we appreciate most about working with FRYKA is the straightforward and competent exchange. Especially important for us is the close coordination in the development of new applications and customer-specific solutions. This works in a partnership, directly and reliably. That's why we are happy to recommend the collaboration.«

Implementation and production in small series

The cooling units are produced to order in economical small series as plug-and-play devices:

  • Housing production and refrigeration assembly are fully carried out in the factory
  • Use of proven standard components for high operational safety
  • High production depth allows flexible adjustments
  • Modern warehousing ensures short delivery times

An annual contract provides additional planning security and enables stockpiling as well as short-term delivery adjustments.

The result for acp systems: integrated, stable, process-secure

  • Reliable subcooling of the CO₂ liquid flow
  • Avoidance of pre-evaporation in the piping system
  • Consistently high cleaning performance
  • Precise integration into existing systems
  • High flexibility in delivery quantities and adjustments
  • Long-term technical support

The OEM cooling units are now an integral part of the acp system solutions and contribute significantly to the stability of the cleaning processes.
